Eric Fung, Director of Corporate Development, Hong Kong “50 years of manufacturing excellence.”
Staying true to this motto, On Hing Metal has continued to be one of the forerunners in the metal fabricating industry, boasting of ‘zero defect quality rate’ in the die casting & CNC business. The young and experienced teams at On Hing Metal, led by Eric Fung as the General Manager for China Plant #1 and Director of Corporate Development Hong Kong, has been creating high-end cast products for organizations across automotive, motors, consumer and professional electronics, healthcare, and other industries. “On Hing Metal aims to eliminate the rising labor costs in the industry with automation while maintaining high-quality product delivery, without undermining the environmental impact of manufacturing, at the same time leveraging advanced technology to automate and control our casting and CNC process,” states Fung.
Describing On Hing Metal’s success in reducing overall costs associated with vacuum casting, Fung elaborates how the company effectively eliminates the traditional conventional vacuum valves in the tooling design, developing an air balance in the process.
Our die casting and CNC has been perfected with innovation at its core for over 50 years
This aids in a smoother production, porosity-free casting process, reducing unwanted scrappage, simultaneously retaining the desired casting. Additionally, the company also utilizes over-molding and sophisticated multi-core sliding technology, thereby reducing the time consumed in post assembly and machining processes and assuring high-quality products.
On Hing Metal’s expertise in die casting includes two unique techniques that reduce the overall process duration. The first is complex multi-slide and screw threaded die casting, a fast process, producing thin-walled parts with complex geometrical shapes. Second, areas, where the tooling will have wear and tear, are predicted, removable tooling inserts are created in these areas to save time on future repair and maintenance.
“Our die casting and CNC has been perfected with innovation at its core for over 50 years,” says Fung with pride. One of the most competitor edges for metal fabrication is that together with DFM, multi-core and multi-feature casting, it can significantly reduce manufacturing costs by facilitating excellent assembly of small as well as larger parts. Our superior double and triple layer powder coating render a smooth and sophisticated finish to all metal products.
On Hing Metal’s Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Services has proven efficient in bringing down operational costs with the aid of robotic arms that are capable of working 24 hours at a stretch.
What makes On Hing metal unique in the marketplace is its flexible production lines and documented control over every single process. Moreover, the team maintains every detail of Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA), as well as the Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) in its database. “Our dedicated project management teams ensure transparency at all production stages,” comments Fung. In an instance, On Hing Metal had assisted a client with an FMEA and DFM project in consolidating some of their machinery, changing pre-surface finishing, and adjusting CNC features. This results in a reduction in the overall production costs and downtime while enhancing reliability and efficiency in all areas.
Following similar success stories from its two plants in China, On Hing Metal is looking forward to expanding its footprint to the Southeast Asian region in Indonesia and Malaysia. “Besides making profits, we also believe in giving back to the environment. We are sponsoring the Formula SAE Design competition for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) members, as well as donating scholarships to local education institutions in an ambitious bid to shape a better future for the engineers of tomorrow,” concludes Fung.
